What is RSS?
RSS enables you to subscribe to feeds from your favourite websites so that any new content will be delivered directly to you, without you having to visit the website.
How do I get RSS feeds?
The first thing you need is an RSS reader. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser (like Bloglines), and some of which are applications which you need to download to your computer (like Sharp Reader). All of them allow you to display and subscribe to your preferred RSS feeds.
Once you have chosen a news reader, all you have to do is click on an RSS link on a website (they are often displayed in the address bar of the browser) to subscribe to a feed. Your browser will then detect the RSS feed for you so that you can subscribe to the feed. Different browsers deal with this in different ways, so be sure to check the website of the browser you use if you have any problems.
If your browser doesn't detect the RSS feed automatically, you will be taken to a page that displays a bunch of code. Don't worry, all you need to do is cut and paste the page's URL into a new feed in your news reader... and then wait for the new content to be delivered to you. It's as simple as that!
Here are some of the most popular RSS readers. This is by no means an exhaustive list, as there are hundreds of RSS readers out there.
